Colt Pocket Model (1849) “Deluxe Gustave Young engraved and cased #103591. 5 inch barrel with considerable original blue fi nish and silvery case colors remaining. Original ivory grips show an excellent period repair using an escutcheon and screw. Also, the one-piece spacer shows a break and reinforcement to accept the screw. Fine engraving by the master's own hand with Samuel Colt on the barrel and hand-cut Colt patent on the frame. The barrel shows 50% plus evenly aging and toning to the original blue fi nish. Generous case colors remain in a silver-gray patina on the frame and hammer. The cylinder shows 80% plus well-defi ned scene with light cleaning to gray metal long ago and aged nicely. The straps show the most original silver, with patina running from dark to bright and loss of plating at the heel and edges (about 80% - 90% remaining). All matching visible serial numbers, grips are very good plus, with minor aging and cracking along with mellow patina. The case and accessories are good to very good overall. The lining shows a minor tear, and there are impressions at contact points. The fl ask and mold are good to very good, the cap tin retains partial label, and the skin pack is very good with minor losses. The exterior of the case is very good with minor imperfections and most of the most original fi nish. A strong 7 1/2 to 8 on a 1 - 10 grading scale and is priced fairly at $6,250.
