Pair of cased percussion pistols by Lacey circa 1845-1850 with inscription on the lid of the case. The brass owners escutcheon is inscribed, “F.B. Salmon Esq., Bombay N.I”  The N.I. refers to native infantry and was one of the units famous for mutiny in 1857. Lacey was a supplier to the British East India company but F. B Salmons history is unknown. 


The pair measure 12 ½ inches overall with 7-in round barrels with flattened top for sighting. 3/4 stocked with horn forend cap and swivel ramrod. Mounted with belt hooks and sights. High quality engraving and checkered select walnut stocks F. B. S. Engraved in silver plaques inlaid into the wrists. The pair remain in original fine condition with 90% plus original brown and case hardening, some bright blue on trigger guards and the stocks are also near fine with minimal handling and aging. The green baize or felt lined case is in very good plus condition with minor fraying, staining and normal aging. Missing compartment covers in each corner. A very good Lacy + Reynolds trade label remains in the lid advertising supplier to the board of ordinance and the East India company. A very good flask, correct mold, nipple wrench and cap tin included. A strong 9 on 1 - 10 grading scale for condition and quality. $5,850
