Kentucky Rifle Signed S. Alan
Kentucky rifle signed S. Alan converted from flintlock to percussion with elaborate horse head patch box. The lock is stamped D. Partridge. The rifle measures 54 ½ inches overall with 39 inch barrel of approximately 52 - 56 caliber rifled and a rib has been added to bottom of barrel along with iron ramrod pipes (2). The rifle is signed in front of rear sight which is a medium buckhorn style and the front sight is an old replacement with silver colored base and brass post. Nice engraved silver inlay into the chickpeace. The stock has seen repairs and restoration to good condition. The lock is working and set trigger also works. Purportedly an S. Alan Kentucky rifle is housed in Smithsonian institution collection. An attractive rifle for Rendezvous or over the fireplace.
