Pair of cased and best quality English percussion Duelers / Target pistols by Joseph C. Reiley, High Holborn - London England circa 1840. 9 ½ inch octagon barrels in 16 ½ inches overall. Half stocked in select checkered walnut and approximately 45 caliber smooth bore with sights on barrels and no set triggers. The breaches show two platinum bands and nicely engraved locks and mounts. Nearly 100% bright “tobacco” colored brown on both barrels, strong traces of case colors on locks and traces of blue on trigger guards. A trade label from Reiley is retained in the lid and the case is lined in green baize or felt is in original and very good condition. Minor fraying, fading and aging to material with wear at contact points, two original compartment lids are retained with turned bone pulls (1 - repaired). Good and original flask, mold, rod, also nipple wrench included. The exterior of the case shows some scratches and marks with one large stress crack. The case is veneered mahogany with fancy brass hardware and folding carry handle. A nice set by premium London maker.
