Pair of Cased Dueling Pistols
Pair of cased dueling pistols marked Manton on the locks and gold inlaid Manton - London on the barrels with gold line at each breach. Expertly converted from flintlock to percussion with platinum plugs and engraved hammers possibly by Manton Firm. One gold and one silver owner plaques are inlaid at top of each wrist and indicate a descent within the family in our opinion. Approximately 16 in overall with nearly 10 in heavy octagon barrels of 62 caliber plus smooth bore. Most original slightly dulling brown finish remains on barrels with muted case colors on lock stocks very good plus almost f ine with small marks and minor imperfections. The flask, mold, caps, and rod are all good plus and correct to the era. The case shows old relining with trade label in the top which is also very good plus. Case is possibly relined at the time of conversion to percussion. A very nice set by a premier London gun making family.
