Allen's patent dragoon size cased pepperbox with desirable spurred guard and ivory grips. The barrel marked patented 1837 - cast steel with Allen's patent on Hammer. Approximately 40-60% original blue on barrel cluster with frame drifting to bright metal with sharp engraving. The ivory grips are original to this pistol and show normal aging and small imperfections. The case is very good plus also with a desirable Paterson style beveled lid. Original mold, flask, rod and cap box. The exterior very good with minor stress cracks, scratchmarks, etc.  Advanced American/pepperbox collector Bob Butterfield agrees that less than six dragoon size pepper boxes are known with original ivory grips.
