Philadelphia Derringer (probably by Slotter) agent marked “MADE FOR W. C. ALLEN & CO, SAN FRANC ᴼ CAL ᴬ” 7 groove rifling marked “DERRINGER PHILADEL ᴬ” on lock and breach. 6 inch overall with 2 1/4 barrel approximately 42 - 44 caliber without ramrod. The trigger guard is only engraved and German silver with pineapple finial. Plain German silver mounts, except for the escutcheon around the lock screw are iron with small point at the bottom indicating a period infringement or copy. Considerable finish, sharp metal with good to very good wood overall.
