19th to early 20th century rapier with etched blade and pierced brass hilt. The grip is wire wrapped and the pommel shows a Roman soldier in full armor. The blade is 35 inches and 43 inches overall. The sword is balanced well probably made for fencing or live dueling. The blade shows a coating of rust and brass is uncleaned. May well have been used in Elizabeth and Essex movie which was a golden age film starring Enrol Flynn. This sword came out of Western costume company Los Angeles collection who rented props in that era and supplied Elizabeth and Essex film with many swords like this. Unfortunately no scabbard which would have made it more identifiable.
