-SOLD-Pair of Miniature Target Pistols by Kuchenreuter
Pair of miniature target pistols by Kuchenreuter cased with accessories. Probably made for a royal lady or young squire to be used at court in the 19th century where target shooting was very popular. The barrels are silver inlaid I - Adam Kuchenreuter on Regensburg with ornate engraving on locks and mounts. The pistols are stocked in what appears to be light walnuts or fruit wood with scroll and line carving. Each pistol is fitted with a single set trigger. Octagon barrels measure approximately 3 ½ and 7 inches overall of approximately 40-42 caliber rifled. The pair shows a French gray or satin finish with minor aging and discoloration. Flask, mold, cap box and rod are in good to very good condition and proper to this casing. The French style case is lined in blue velveteen with red piping and trim. Two compartment lids are retained and a jeweler made cut out pin for uniform or hat is in the top compartment (Austrian eagle). The casing is original to the pair and very good overall. The outside hook type latches are missing. Very few “small pairs” like this are ever encountered and the only set by Kuchenreuter we know to exist. Exterior also good with a couple age cracks in the lid.
